WHF Professional Development Committee: Women in Leadership & Management Skills

This program will consist of a panel discussion and is intended to be a learning tool and primer on effective leadership and management skills. It aims to enable participants to identify and develop the best means to communicate, listen, build consensus, and create opportunities for leadership and management. 

The topics for the panel are:

  • How to gain and keep respect and a seat at the table
  • Developing your own style
  • Communicating effectively
  • Effective management of staff

Melody Feinberg is the  Senior Vice President and Chief Risk Officer at the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York (FHLBNY). Ms. Feinberg oversees the Bank’s Enterprise-wide Risk Management practice.  This role encompasses Financial Risk Management and Credit Risk Analytics; Credit Risk; Collateral Risk; Model Risk; Operational Risk; Technology Risk; and Compliance.  She is a member of the Bank’s Management Committee and serves on many of the FHLBNY’s internal committees, including chairing the Enterprise Risk Committee. She also serves as the primary contact for the Bank’s regulator, the Federal Housing Financing Agency. Ms. Feinberg began her career as a CPA with Ernst & Young, and then held positions of increasing responsibilities in accounting and finance roles at three investment banks, namely, JP Morgan Chase, HSBC and Goldman Sachs over the course of 18 years.  She is a graduate of the RMA Wharton Advanced Risk Management Program and holds a PRMIA Market, Liquidity, and Asset Liability Management Certification.


Anna Alvarez Boyd has diverse experience in government, corporate and the non-profit sectors where she led housing, mortgage finance and community development policy at a national level. Anna currently holds the position of Senior Associate Director at the Federal Reserve Board, where she is responsible for directing consumer and community development research and programs that inform and support Federal Reserve policymakers.  Anna has served as Vice President of Programs for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, a non-profit institute providing leadership development programs to emerging Latinx leaders.  Ms. Alvarez Boyd also held the position of Director, Community and Multicultural Lending at Fannie Mae where she developed business opportunities in minority and underserved communities.  As Deputy Comptroller for Community Affairs at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency she directed a nationwide team of community development professionals responsible for policy directly impacting the nation’s largest banks.  During her time at the OCC she founded the Hispanic Organization for Leadership and Advancement (HOLA) to support the recruitment and retention of Hispanic/Latino employees.  Anna is a native of San Francisco, California, and a graduate of San Francisco State University.  She is also a graduate of Georgetown University’s Transformational Leadership Coaching program and a member of the International Coaching Federation, ACC level certified coach.
